Apple is expected to launch an augmented reality / virtual reality headset in late 2022 or 2023.
In this case, the developers have said that Apple is likely to introduce a special operating system called 'Reality OS' to run the device.
It has been reported that this rOS will be spotted on the iOS 13 built-in release. Earlier in 2017, it was reported that a reference to this rOS was released. It is also reported that there is information about this in the Appstore install log. This was reported by 9to5mac, which has been releasing news about Apple products.
RealityOS could be a placeholder name, but it follows Apple's naming convention—tvOS, watchOS, macOS, and so on. We don't know what the device will be called yet, but Apple Reality has been mentioned as a possible name. It could also refer to an expansion of Apple's existing ARKit framework for the iPad and iPhone, but we'd be surprised if Apple's AR headset didn't run realityOS.
The AR/VR headset will reportedly run a new operating system known as "rOS," which stands for Reality Operating System. The same way that tvOS powers Apple TV, macOS powers Macs, and watchOS powers Apple Watch, "rOS" is expected to power Apple's augmented reality headset. The AR/VR operating system, first discovered by Bloomberg in 2017, is internally codenamed "Oak."
Instead, Apple will concentrate on "bursts of gaming, communication, and content consumption," in which users log on for a specific purpose and then return to the real world.
This would be consistent with Apple's other projects, such as its augmented reality glasses, which are also rumoured to be in development.
However, technology-based people have expressed a variety of opinions on this. Some have suggested that this may even be a code word.
